| Known as the Gold Coast,Guanacaste is Costa Rica’s sunniest region;Guanacaste is located in the northwestern part of Costa Rica,along the coast of the Pacific Ocean,to the north it borders with Nicaragua.The province of Guanacaste is filled with touristic,folkloric and other attractions such as environmental conversation projects. Guanacaste covers an area of 10,141 km²,with an approximately population 300,000.It is the most sparsely populated of all the provinces of Costa Rica with a density of 30 per square mile. Guanacaste attractions include vast expanses of endangered wilderness,forest cloaked volcanoes,historic towns and ranches.There are many National Parks located in Guanacaste province such as the Guanacaste National Park,Palo Verde National Park,and many other places like the Barra Honda Caverns and the Rincón de la Vieja Volcano. Tourism is the center activity on the Gold Coast and is supported by the new International Airport,Daniel Oduber International Airport,located in Liberia with daily fights to the United States and Europe. Guanacaste is also known for its spectacular Pacific Coast beaches which go on for over one hundred miles. The beaches of Guanacaste are blessed with sunny days and warm crystalline waters that make a great spot for surfing,kayaking,swimming,horseback riding,diving and snorkeling all year around.
