| Nicoya Peninsula has essentially a dry tropical climate with a very predictable rainy season from May to October offering a breathtaking landscape all year around.Because Souther Nicoya Peninsula has been a little more difficult to get to,this area has been off the beaten track of tourist! Oh man,have they been missing out! Little development means more natural surroundings,peace and quiet.On any day you can find a beach all for yourself,run in for a splash in crystal-clear waterfalls and then follow the trails through the unspoiled dry forest habitats. Some of the protected areas in the region have global significance in the protection of forest species and represent places of great interest for study and research. For example,the nesting grounds of the Leatherback (baula) turtle,waterfowl in the lakes of Palo Verde National Park,and the nesting grounds of the Olive Ridley (lora) turtle in Nancite and Ostional beaches. With a length of approximately 110 kilometers in front of the coast,the beaches of Nicoya Peninsula in Guanacaste offer every kind of open air activity:surfing,kayaking,swimming,horseback riding,diving and snorkelling. The Southern Nicoya Peninsula beaches are very much off the beaten track,offering their visitors a real chance to commune with nature.
